What makes you

What makes
me excited about God? I cannot love God if I'm not excited about Him. Just like
my love relationship with my spouse, I need to always work on my relationship
with God. Part of this also is a discovery game! We discover new things about
Him all the time, and new things about ourselves! Now generally, we won't
discover what we are not looking for. Even if we do find it by mistake, we might
actually miss it, and the discovery is wasted! I have made it my continued quest
to keep my passion alive. Without passion, I die. I need to continually know
what excites me about God, and then make sure I give it attention and invest
therein.
I am excited about what He has done for me. I start thinking,
and especially verbalizing what He saved me FROM, and what He saved me TO, and
that is enough to get me on a high! If I need some help, I find the Psalms
helpful, and thinking of the things others suffer from, that I don't - that's
great! I love to DREAM with God, and find out His hopes for me, and then also
for others. That is great to get me excited! Then I agree with it and pray it. I
prefer wherever possible to be on the offensive rather than on the defensive in
this.
We HAVE to show and teach our children to do this, in order to
raise children who love God. If they don't learn what makes them tick and how to
invest in it, their love wouldn't last beyond outward appearances.
However,
the greatest and most exhilarating to me, is the "alone" times with God, where
nothing is said, even by Him, but He just allows me to drink in the beauty of
HIS presence! It infuses me with life and energy, and even power and vision,
that cannot be explained. We need to teach them (our children) this
also!
